Painted Wine Crate Logos

Computers have certainly made logo design much easier with the ability to manipulate even the finest of details on the fly. Before the current advancements in technology however, designers had to do it the old fashioned way. It’s fun to hone these skills from time to time and the effect is something that can’t easily be achieved in Photoshop or Illustrator.

These logos weren’t created for a client. They were designed for as a gift for my wife for two reasons. One, she loves wine. Two, her alter ego when she drinks too much wine has been named “Rita.” We had these old wine crates laying around so I decided to have a little fun with it and design some random logos around her “other personality.”

White charcoal pencil is possibly your best friend on these types of projects. It allows you to sketch on the surface before applying the paint and color. Hand applied typography has challenges, but I couldn’t be happier with the results.
